Discipline
Discipline is the practice of doing what needs to be done even if you do not want to do it. Neuroscience does not know exactly where it comes from. It is not willpower and it is not motivation. The direct emotion that relates to discipline is resolve.
You have 3 steps to cultivate resolve:
- Take a snapshot of how you feel when you feel resolve to do something
- Practice being resolved with something small. Something that is not important because you want to not spend to much emotional energy.
- In the first hour of waking up, spend 5-10min on building that resolve
- “Sankalpa” - Spend 10-20 min building resolve on something more important to you. After about 30 days of doing step 2.
